Stop the Insanity!

A situation with a family member this week prompted me to write today's article. Without going into too much detail, both parties were going back and forth - pointing fingers at each other, and angrily exclaiming that "I am miserable because of YOU," and, "You made me this way," etc.

This prompted me to post an item on Facebook ... and I wanted to share those truths here as well, because if you are stuck in a toxic situation (either personally or professionally), or have otherwise stalled in moving forward in your life (again, either personally or professionally), then this is something you may need to see and really internalize in your psyche in order to FINALLY break free:

No one can make you think, feel, do, etc. WITHOUT your permission!

The definition of Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. Dr. Phil even says you cannot change what you don't acknowledge.

The good news is this: You can move past feeling hurt, angry, disrespected, etc. But you have to take the first step. Proverbs 3:5-6 says to trust in God and not in yourself, to lean on Him and allow Him to make your paths straight. Jeremiah 29:11 says that God has plans for you - to prosper and not harm you and give you a hope and a future. Step out in Faith, and He will catch you. Trust in Him, Lean on Him, and you will get through the tough times. Remember He is holding you up.

Along with trusting God, seeking professional help to sort through your feelings is a vital and important step. There are resources to help you. Life is too short to be miserable - you CAN do something about it if you would just have some faith and take a chance by "doing different."
